Bio

Matt Salton has been programming for Reelout since 2000. In 2007 Salton became the Festival & Programming Director for the FairyTales Queer Diversity Film Festival in Calgary, Alberta and acted in that capacity until the summer of 2009 when he returned to Kingston to take over the Reelout reins. Salton wrote and directed REALITY HIGH which was nominated for Best Student Film by the Alberta Film and Television Industry in 2009. He has been a guest curator for the Winnipeg REEL PRIDE festival (Skews & Views: Harper Valley G.A.Y) and for Reelout while working for FairyTales in 2008 (Fairies from the Prairies). Salton majored in Business of Film at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and graduated with honours in 2009. Salton has served on the advisory boards of the Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society (07-09) and Cinema Kingston (05-07). Salton's musing on queer film and popular culture have appeared in both Gay Calgary & Edmonton Magazine and Outlooks Magazine.
