Gabriel, a 16 year old student travels to Manchester on exchange and meets a fellow Icelander, the stylish and enigmatic Markus whom he’ll room with. Markus’s wild hedonistic ways influence the studious Gabriel into nights of wild abandon but an unexpected kiss leads to a whole new set of feelings Gabriel isn’t yet ready to face. Faced with these new jitters, Gabriel returns to Iceland and his controlling mother and his group of lively and entertaining friends. His best friend Teddi is obsessed with female conquests, the bookishly cool Greta is in search of her biological father, and his closest friend Stella is suffering under the smothering control of her racist grandmother. JITTERS is a rare film that perfectly captures the life of contemporary teenagers testing the waters of adulthood. It is a film that is told without condescending its teenage audience and a clear love for its characters. A giant hit in its home country- JITTERS will have Reelout audiences discussing the film’s subject matter long after the lights come up.
Note: This film deals frankly with the issue of teen suicide and may be triggering to some viewers.
