Fag
Hags: Women Who Love Gay Men
Justine Pimlott/Canada/2005/video/52min
Is the term “fag hag” a derogatory
insult or badge of honor? In New York City we meet the
activist girls of SWISH who are fighting for their gay
best friends with guts, glory and a whole lot of glamour.
In Toronto we meet two couples who share their stories
of pain, love and redemption through the years. And
in San Francisco we meet a couple who go so far as to
marry each other rather than find someone else to love.
This award-winning journey through the years of AIDS,
bathhouse raids, and breast cancer is peppered throughout
by wry and fabulous excerpts from the worlds of television
and film, not including commentary by arguably the gay
community’s favorite fag hag herself- Margaret Cho. |
